Senior Social Worker / Counsellor

Role & Responsibilities
Assist the Head and/or Counsellor to attend to referrals for placement, conduct intake and admission interviews
Use appropriate assessment tools to assess risks, needs, strengths of residents and work collaboratively with the Probation, Child & Adult Protective Services Officers to develop the Individualized Care Plan (ICP) with a view towards reintegration with family and with the larger community
Conduct in depth biopsychosocial assessment of vulnerable families, design and deliver client centric interventions to vulnerable families
Ensure that the ICP is carried out with appropriate and sound intervention plans
Conduct regular meetings with relevant partners and stakeholders to evaluate resident’s progress
Plan, design and conduct rehabilitative and developmental groupwork programmes
Maintain up-to-date case records and progress records of residents
Manage and oversee or guide caseworkers
Supervision of junior counsellors and interns in casework and counselling
Prepare and vet reports for timely submission to MSF, the court and social reports for referral services
Ensure that services are planned and conducted within the guidelines of professional standards and ethics
Assist the Head in reviewing all admissions, discharge and disciplinary cases
Assist in maintaining an environment that encourages physical, emotional and psychological well-being of the residents
Work with community agencies and volunteers in providing services to the Hostel and residents
Assist with statistical reports, presentations, programme evaluation
Assist with research and with reviewing and developing processes to improve casework as well as service delivery
Assist with presentations to stakeholders, visitors, professionals for outreach engagements
Any other duties as directed by the Head of Centre and or Cluster Director, Family Services
Qualifications, Competencies & Experience
Degree or Master of Soc Sc (Social Work) – for Senior Social Worker
Masters in Social Sciences (Professional Counselling) – for Senior Counsellor
Minimally 3 -5 years experience or more working with at-risk youth with trauma and families
