Job Description:

JOB PURPOSE 

The Production / Quality Engineer manages quality assurance (QA) activities across vendor factories. This role oversees assigned projects to ensure vendors' manufacturing processes and products strictly align with quality standards. Key objectives include implementing quality management systems, executing continuous improvement initiatives (defect prevention and waste reduction), and resolving quality issues to lower the Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ) and drive customer satisfaction.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Product Quality & Vendor Management (100% of Workload)

  • Product Development & Quality Design (25%):

    • Participate in product development and change management to ensure strict compliance with quality guidelines.

    • Evaluate Design for Manufacturability (DFM), critical process measurements, testing procedures, prototype manufacturing, and supplier quality metrics.

  • Vendor Quality & System Optimization (75%):

    • Guide and support vendors in implementing and maintaining robust Quality Management Systems (QMS).

    • Analyze manufacturing processes, identify safety and risk factors, monitor production issues, and drive root-cause solutions.

    • Review supplier continuous improvement projects, process capabilities, data collection methods, and QMS documentation.

    • Execute projects focused on reducing sales returns and eliminating process waste.

2. Strategic Impact & Continuous Improvement

  • Drive tactical action plans to achieve core business metrics, focusing on return reduction, waste elimination, and customer satisfaction.

  • Propose process improvements to streamline internal QA workflows and cross-functional collaboration (Sourcing, Merchandising, QA).

  • Introduce innovative ideas for ongoing quality enhancement.

3. Stakeholder Collaboration & Self-Leadership

  • Build effective working relationships with key internal teams and external vendor stakeholders.

  • Share best practices and lessons learned across product category teams.

  • Continuously update knowledge on product safety standards, regulatory requirements, testing methodologies, and advanced quality tools.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

1. Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related technical sciences.

  • 2 to 5 years of experience in Quality Assurance, specifically managing vendor QA activities within well-managed buying offices, sourcing hubs, or manufacturing facilities.

  • Background in Retail or global supply chain environments is preferred.

2. Technical Expertise & Quality Tools:

  • Solid experience in product development, Design for Manufacturability (DFM), and key product/process characteristics.

  • Strong knowledge and practical implementation of ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 / TS 16949.

  • Proficiency in core quality tools: Lean, Kaizen, DMAIC, APQP, PPAP, MSA, SPC, and FMEA.

  • Proficient in statistical analysis software (e.g., Minitab).

  • Preferred: Six Sigma Black Belt certification or certified IATF 16949 / TS 16949 Internal/Lead Auditor.

3. Soft Skills & Languages:

  • English: Excellent written and verbal communication skills for reporting and collaborating with regional and overseas headquarters.

  • Mandarin/Chinese: Conversational fluency is highly preferred.

  • Strong project management, presentation, problem-solving, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
