Job Responsibilities

  • Create a safe, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment that nurtures students' curiosity, creativity, and appreciation for music.
  • Design and deliver engaging, age-appropriate music lessons for students aged 5–11, encouraging active participation in vocal and instrumental music activities.
  • Apply a range of instructional strategies to meet diverse learning needs while promoting self-expression, confidence, and holistic development.
  • Plan, prepare, assess, and evaluate music learning experiences, and collaborate with colleagues in organizing concerts, performances, and school-wide events.
  • Integrate technology effectively to enhance teaching, learning, assessment, and student engagement.
  • Provide on-site private peripatetic music lessons, offering individualized instruction outside scheduled part-time teaching hours.
  • Build positive and productive relationships with students, colleagues, and parents, maintaining clear and effective communication regarding student progress and learning opportunities.

Job Requirements

  • A recognized degree in Music Education or a related field, along with a valid teaching qualification.
  • Proven experience teaching primary-aged students (5–11 years), ideally within an international school environment.
  • Strong expertise in both vocal and instrumental music instruction, with a passion for inspiring young learners to develop a lifelong love of music.
  • Demonstrated experience in planning and coordinating music performances, showcases, and creative collaborative activities.
  • Proficiency in using educational technology to support music teaching and learning.
  • Experience teaching students for whom English is an Additional Language (EAL).
  • Familiarity with concept-based learning approaches and international curriculum frameworks.
  • Ability to play multiple musical instruments, particularly piano, and teach a variety of musical styles and genres.
  • Previous experience delivering private or peripatetic music lessons.
  • A student-focused educator who inspires creativity, curiosity, and a love of learning.
  • A reflective practitioner committed to continuous professional development and growth.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to establish strong relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • A collaborative team member who actively contributes to the wider school community through performances, events, and co-curricular music initiatives.
