Job Responsibilities

  • Design and deliver a rigorous, engaging, and future-focused Computer Science curriculum aligned with the Cambridge International Curriculum and the school's educational philosophy.
  • Teach Computer Science across a range of year levels, from Year 6 through to IGCSE and A Level/IB Diploma, fostering computational thinking, creativity, and problem-solving skills.
  • Prepare students for IGCSE Computer Science examinations, commencing with the first examination cohort in May/June 2027, through structured and challenging instruction.
  • Work closely with Junior School colleagues to ensure continuity and progression from the Coding and Robotics programme introduced from Year 3 onwards.
  • Teach a second subject, such as Mathematics, Physics, or another STEM-related discipline, up to Key Stage 3 or 4 where required.
  • Serve as a Form Tutor, supporting students’ academic, personal, and social development.
  • Establish and maintain strong partnerships with parents, providing regular updates on student progress and addressing concerns in a professional and timely manner.
  • Integrate innovative teaching methodologies and educational technologies to enhance student learning and engagement in Computer Science.
  • Foster an inclusive, supportive, and stimulating classroom environment that accommodates diverse learning needs, including students for whom English is an Additional Language (EAL).
  • Contribute to the co-curricular programme through activities such as coding clubs, robotics teams, hackathons, cybersecurity initiatives, and STEM competitions.
  • Participate actively in professional development opportunities and contribute to the sharing of best practices within the department and wider school community.


Job Requirements

  • Strong subject knowledge in Computer Science, with the ability to deliver high-quality instruction to learners of varying abilities.
  • Proven experience teaching Computer Science to students aged 11–16, including preparation for IGCSE or equivalent external examinations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Cultural awareness and adaptability, with the ability to work effectively within an international school environment.
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the capacity to manage multiple responsibilities in a dynamic setting.
  • Proficiency in relevant programming languages (e.g., Python, Java) and educational technologies that support Computer Science learning.
  • Demonstrated ability to motivate, challenge, and inspire students to achieve their full potential.
  • Ability to teach a second STEM subject, such as Mathematics, Physics, or a related discipline, up to Key Stage 3 or 4.
  • Experience in curriculum development, departmental leadership, or coordinating initiatives within a Technology or Computing Department.
  • Experience supporting EAL learners and implementing strategies that facilitate language development within technical subject areas.
  • Familiarity with concept-based, inquiry-based, and project-based learning approaches.
  • Previous experience working in an international school setting.
  • Passion for promoting interdisciplinary STEM learning, including emerging areas such as artificial intelligence, robotics, data science, and cybersecurity.
