Company Overview & Role Summary
We are seeking a visionary and results-driven Commercial Director to lead our commercial strategy and drive the aggressive growth of our Native and Modified Tapioca Starch business. Stepping into this executive leadership role, you will oversee the entire sales organization (including Sales Managers and Assistant Managers), directing both high-level commercial execution and technical application strategies.
You will be fully accountable for revenue growth, market expansion, and profitability margins, ensuring our solutions continue to meet the complex needs of the global food and industrial ingredient markets.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Commercial Leadership:
- Develop, implement, and drive the overarching regional/global sales and marketing strategy for both Native and Modified Starch product lines.
- Own the commercial P&L, setting and delivering upon ambitious volume, revenue, and profit margin targets.
- Team Management & Development:
- Lead, mentor, and scale a high-performing technical sales team.
- Build a culture of commercial excellence, equipping your team to effectively combine B2B commercial execution with hands-on technical and application support.
- Business Development & Key Account Strategy:
- Spearhead high-level negotiations, complex contract handling, and strategic partnerships with enterprise-level clients.
- Identify and penetrate new market segments and geographic territories, capitalizing on emerging trends in food and industrial ingredients.
- Cross-Functional Executive Collaboration:
- Partner directly with R&D, Production, QA, and Supply Chain leadership to align plant capacity with market demand.
- Champion new product development initiatives based on market intelligence, competitor analysis, and shifting customer needs.
- Technical & Market Oversight:
- Maintain a strong grasp of starch applications (thickening, stabilization, water-binding, etc.) to guide the team's product positioning and high-level troubleshooting efforts.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Biotechnology, Business Administration, or a related field. (A Master’s degree or MBA is highly preferred).
- 12–15+ years of progressive experience in B2B Technical Sales, Commercial Management, or Business Development within the Modified Starch, Food Ingredients, or Specialty Chemicals industries.
- Minimum of 5+ years in a senior leadership or director-level capacity, with a proven history of managing sales teams and full P&L accountability.
- Deep technical and commercial understanding of modified starch applications, customer manufacturing processes, and the global ingredient supply chain.
- Exceptional capability in high-stakes negotiation, strategic pricing, and enterprise-level contract management.
- Executive-level presentation and relationship-building skills. Able to break down silos between commercial, R&D, and operational teams.
- Fluent in English (written and spoken) for international business dealings. Additional languages are a strong advantage.
- Willingness to travel extensively (domestic and international) to engage with key accounts and attend industry events.
