Core Responsibilities

  • Architectural Ownership: Formulate and own the end-to-end technical architecture; directly recommend and decide on system designs, technology stacks, and integration patterns from scratch with a focus on long-term maintainability and scalability.

  • Technical Governance: Provide strategic architectural recommendations and technical direction across the broader engineering department; review engineering designs, flag systemic risks early, and guarantee alignment with platform scalability standards.

  • Engineering Standards: Establish and champion the foundational engineering benchmarks for code quality, testing methodologies, and documentation; run high-bar code reviews adopted across the development squads.

  • Core Infrastructure Development: Architect and build the core data and event infrastructure capable of handling real-time, high-volume distribution and transaction processing, prioritizing throughput, fault tolerance, and data integrity.

  • Security & Compliance: Embed robust security frameworks and compliance best practices directly into system designs and development workflows from day one.

  • Mentorship & Talent Growth: Mentor engineers across all seniorities, identify and mitigate technical debt early, lead crucial code refactoring initiatives, and participate in technical interviews to scale a high-performing engineering team.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with Product Managers and UI/UX Designers to translate business requirements into technical specifications and actionable engineering roadmaps; surface technical constraints and opportunities to inform product strategy.

  • System Reliability: Monitor and maintain the reliability and performance benchmarks of production systems; spearhead root cause analysis (RCA) for critical incidents and implement permanent preventative engineering solutions.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Experience: 8+ years of professional experience in Full-Stack Software Engineering, with a minimum of 2 years serving in a Technical Lead or Team Lead capacity within a fast-paced B2B SaaS or Fintech environment.

  • First-Principles Thinking: Proven capability to architect scalable systems from the ground up, selecting programming languages, frameworks, data stores, and infrastructure patterns derived from first principles.

  • Distributed Systems: Deep domain expertise in distributed systems and event-driven architectures (including real-time streaming, message queuing, and asynchronous processing), with the technical judgment to know exactly when their implementation is warranted.

  • Database Engineering: Strong command of database design and optimization across both relational (SQL) and document/NoSQL models, including advanced schema design, indexing, query performance tuning, and scaling strategies.

  • API Scalability: A proven track record of designing, developing, and shipping production-grade, scalable APIs and microservices capable of handling high-volume transaction traffic.

  • Technical Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead technical design sessions, drive architectural decision-making, and mentor senior and mid-level engineers.

Preferred Qualifications (Nice-to-Have)
